Sandals Royal Bahamian . . . impressive in every way

Sandals Royal Bahamian
Spa Resort & Off Shore Island
in the beautiful Bahamas

Sandals Royal Bahamian is located minutes away from shopping downtown Nassau and a quick 10 minute ride form the airport. I love arriving to a resort that I have not been before, because a 1st impression last a long time. Sandals always greets you with a cold towel to freshen up with, which I love. Then I proceed to check out their lobby and court yard, it reflects the "old world charm", and decorated in bright blue colors to match the waters.
The main quiet pool.

I truly felt at home while here, it was a perfect size. There were three sections. The Royal Village, this area was in a lush garden and in the gardens were 3 small private pools. Now these rooms do not offer ocean views but much privacy. The two other areas are their towers, Manor House and the Royal Windsor Tower which both were amazing and full of endless sea views.
Pool and swim up bar on Sandals Cay.

This resort also features a private island, Sandals Cay, it hosts a fresh water pool with swim up bar, Cafe Goombay, and Spa, I loved the back side of this island so relaxing and private. when I enjoyed a wak around the island I saw couple all alone done at the end, it was like heaven.
The back side of the island so private and relaxing.

Patio off the Royal Village Deluxe Room.

A view from the Royal Windsor tower looking towards Sandals Cay.

The water sports here are plenty full, one being the diving. did you know that you can dive up to twice per day at Sandals. Also they offer Hobie cats, Kayaks, Water trikes, windsurfing, and daily snorkeling excursions. They are all included in your package. One thing I always notice when I am at a Sandals resort is that all these activities you can do right off their beach,(you do not have to travel) and they truly make the available for you to enjoy.

Activity pool

The Royal Bahamian offers 2 large pools, 3 in the Royal Village, and 1 on Sandals Cay. a 24 hour
fitness center, on site entertainment, 9 gourmet restaurants and many bars also very fun theme nights.

Manor Beachfront Patio Walkout Concierge Room

Courtyard in the Entrance

This resort is couples only, and great for honeymooners, couples seeking a romantic vacation,
divers and travelers that love water sports.

My Minnesota Wedding Show

On Saturday I spent the day meeting couples at the My Minnesota Wedding Show in Monticello. It may have been snowing but is did not stop many couples to come and meet the areas Top Wedding Professionals. I love to see a little snow never stops a true Minnesotan.

Throughout the day I met many great people, and of course talked weddings and honeymoons all day. Some of the hot destinations brides were thinking about were, Jamaica, Bahamas, Mexico and Hawaii. With all the snow falling it was really easy to think about that dream honeymoon. Not only destinations were on the top of our conversation but so was all the extraordinary resorts to offer.
A few of the hot resorts: Sandals
Couples
El Dorado
Secrets
Palace Resorts

You may hear me say that this vacation will be one of the most memorable vacations you two take together as a married couple. With that in mind are you searching on your own? Where to go and what resort to select, all the options can be over whelming, consider having a travel expert help you with all the large and small details. I love to start our relationship with a few questions, this will help all of us.

Here is a thought to get you started;
Describe you Honeymoon in 3 to 5 words? Each of you do this, that will show you if you are on the same page of what style of honeymoon you both want.

Budget, this is a big word for some. Do not let it scare you, this maybe your first vacation on your own as an adult, in reality how are you to know what to budget. This again is where I will step in and advice what might be that typically budget for the style of honeymoon you want and from there we will see if that is a COMFORTABLE budget for the two of you.

Adam Welz was also there, the President of the Central Minnesota Wedding Association. He spent the day handing out the Bride Guide. If you do not have one and would like one please email me and I will mail you one.

A Honeymoon to Remember

A perfect picture honeymoon for a perfect couple . . . . where else but in the beautiful Island of Maui, Hawaii.
I was so excited to hear from Kindra and David this last February concerning the planning our their honeymoon. One of my passions are honeymoons and that maybe because of my own personal experience of my own honeymoon it was 10 years ago and we still talk about it.

Kindra and David already knew where they wanted to go however it was my job to personalize it find the perfect resort, and even suggested a convertible, in Hawaii this is a must! Below are some great pictures they have shared, you may notice that they visited the Pearl Harbor, I helped them plan a day trip over to Honolulu! It is a very fun and easy day trip no matter where you are in Hawaii.

This is what Kindra had to say about her and Davids honeymoon:
When trying to think of a destination for our honeymoon Dave and I wanted something tropical but low key and relaxing. Somewhere that we could both enjoy! We thought of Maui! Once we agreed on a destination we asked our DJ Adam Welz if he knew of any good travel agents. He gave us Nichole Winters contact information. Once we contacted Nichole everything went so smoothly. She listened to what we wanted and researched packages for us, and helped us in contacting someone at our Hotel so that we could pre-plan activities while in Hawaii. At such a hectic time for us planing our honeymoon was the easiest thanks to Nichole.

Westin: We both enjoyed the resort. The landscaping by the pool areas was so beautiful, and waterfalls were everywhere! It was so relaxing to sit by the pool! The staff was so nice, and the hotel lobby was beautiful. The first night when we arrived at the hotel we were so tired from the long day of traveling, and we were graciously greeted by the valet, then we walked into the lobby and the first thing we saw was a waterfall, and pink flamingos! The hotel offers so many activities! Great for all ages! The hotel also has stores where you can buy gifts, and necessities ( drinks, cameras, sun block, ect. and is open late!
Favorite Thing we did:We both enjoyed every moment of our stay! The surf lessons that we had right outside the Westin were a lot of fun for both of us! The instructors and staff at the school are very patient and so kind!We also enjoyed the drive to Hana. ( We drove in our rental car, but there are tours you can take, but we enjoyed being able to take our time at each stop!) If you drive the road to Hana on your own there is a special CD you can buy, and you start to play it at a special point ( directions and map come with the CD) and it will tell you what you are seeing! It was great! There were so many beautiful stops on the way!
We also enjoyed the Gemini Sailing Tour and the Pearl Harbor tour! The staff on the Gemini was so nice and very welcoming!

. . . and Thank You David and Kindra you were a joy to work with, I love helping clinets with such an important vacation as a new married couple.

It has been awhile . . .

Wow I have not updated you on anything for awhile. In the last month so many things have been going on here.

As you all know by now in August I launched my own Travel Agency, it is called Destination Vacation, this is a really exciting time in my travel career. I have many fun ideas to share with you as time goes on. One thing I am really focusing on is continuing to educate myself. In the last month I spent 2 full days attending MLT University, sitting in on many classes learning about Sandals, Costa Rica, the A, B, C Islands and so much more. Also yesterday I meet with two ladies learning the back side of the business! I have to say I am having a blast and trying to keep up with all the ideas that are exploding in my head.

When attending MLT university, travel agents receive special coupons to offer out clients, some are for Jamaica, Riu Resorts, Couples, and so many more resorts, these savings can add up to $275 per couple.

One Promotion that I am EXCITED about is Palace Resorts, "Vacation Dollars"
Stay at any Palace Resort for 5 or more nights and receive $1,500
or 3 or 4 nights and receive $750
. . . . to spend on Wedding Collections, Tours, Golf, Spa
Upgraded Wine Selection, Romantic Dinner, Room
Upgrades, Casino, and Night Club

Let me ask you something . . . . Have you ever arrived to a resort and they handed you $1,500 to spend money on what you already spend your money on while on vacation. I have never see any offer like this. If you are thinking about your next vacation, this maybe a excellent option for you! Call today and we can talk abut it 320-241-0355

Here is a link to the Palace Resorts Website ~ http://www.palaceresorts.com/

Now to add to everything that is going on here at Destination Vacation is our design of our website . . . . we will be launching in 2 to 3 weeks. Again I am so excited to share this website with you. in the Mean time become a fan of Destination Vacation on Facebook, it is a great resource to keep up on many travel details.

Jimmy and Holly's Honeymoon

. . . a honeymoon at the Barcelo Colonial and Tropical in the Riviera Maya, Mexico

Jimmy and Holly

I absolutely love hearing back from my clients about their vacation!

Here is what Holly said in her email,

"We ABSOLUTELY loved our resort. Everything was very clean, the staff was friendly and the food was great. There was a lot of variety at the buffets and the beach restaurants. The beach was amazing, very clean, beautiful water and palm trees to get some shade. Thank you Nichole for all your help, Holly and Jimmy"
The Barcelo Colonial and Tropical is so popular with many of my clients, they love it for the beautiful long stretch of beach the resort sit on, the location to many different activities available, the variety of amenities the resort has to offer, and the large pool.

NEW Passport Fees

Below is important information I received via email concerning passports.

New Schedule of Passport Fees to Take Effect on July 13, 2010
On June 28, 2010, the U.S. Department of State published its Schedule of Fees for Consular Services in the Federal Register. The schedule includes fees for passports, immigrant visas and other consular services. The changes will take effect on July 13, 2010. The revised fees will cover actual operating expenses for the 23 domestic passport agencies. The adjusted fees are based on a Cost of Service Study completed by the Bureau of Consular Affairs in June 2009. The study, which was the most detailed and exhaustive ever conducted by the U.S. Department of State, established the true cost of providing these consular services, which the Department recovers through the collection of fees.In their official public announcement the State Department says, “While the Department of State is aware of the financial impact this fee increase may have on individuals and businesses, its passport processing operations must be self-sustaining to the extent possible, and it has accordingly set these fees at a level that will allow cost recovery--and not more. The Department also maintains that the increase in passport fees is not significant incomparison with the overall costs of international travel.” The most significant changes are increases in standard adult passport fees from $75 to $110 and standard minor passport fees from $60 to $80. Passport cards will increase in cost from $20 to $30 ($15 for minors). The Department of State expediting fees remain at $60 per application. The Department will begin charging $82 for adding extra pages to existing passports, plus applicable State Department $60 expediting fees. In the past, the Department provided extra pages in a customer's passport, at no charge. The Department found that the cost of the pages themselves, having the pages placed in the book in a secure manner by trained personnel, and of completing the required security checks results in a cost to the U.S. Government more than $82 per passport book, therefore, the Department will charge the same for previously free service. A Briggs suggests that the traveler request a larger 52-page passport book offered by the State Department for travelers who anticipate needing more than 28 visa pages over the lifespan of the passport. Any passport applicant may request a larger book at the time of application by including a letter of explanation. The larger passport is issued at the discretion of the Passport Office and is available at no additional cost.

A Season full of Love

Wedding Season is fast upon us for some of you that means heading out to your mail box and receiving a wedding invitation, others preparing to be a bridesmaid or another part of a wedding and the rest my be the lucky one that found that special someone to share the rest of your life with.

If you are that lucky person remember it is never too late to plan your honeymoon. The typical time to start planning is 3 to 6 month prior, however from time to time I will get a phone call from a couple stating that they know for sure there is room in the Wedding budget to go on a honeymoon. I always get so excited because your honeymoon is so very important, it is the first big vacation as a new married couple, also it is time together after all the pre wedding stress from planning your wedding!!

Here are a few helpful tips:

1. Think of your honeymoon and describe it in 3 words, this will help you in your planning to know what is important to you!

2. Think about what you interest are, sometimes this tells you where you want to go. Maybe you want to lay on the beach, or maybe you enjoy adventure!

3. Discuss a budget, this is sometimes hard to decide if you have not traveled much, therefore do not be afraid to ask your travel agent what is a typical budget for the type of honeymoon you want from there you can discuss together if you are comfortable.

4. Use a travel agent, they are the professional and they know the destinations and resorts. Some travel agents charge service fees for planning do not be afraid to ask if they do and how much. Do not forget Travel Agents are there to help so as ask of questions.

5. Have fun planning this is an exciting time of your life!

I would love to help you with your planning call today, Nichole 320-241-0355

Rude Travelers!

I was on a cruise last week, and if you have not been on a cruise before you must know there is time spent getting on and off the ship, waiting in a line hear and there. With that note I witnessed many RUDE TRAVELERS. It really amazed me, Why you ask? Because we are all on vacation together, visiting the same destination, so what is the hurry. Please read this, take a few notes for the next time you are traveling.

One afternoon I was at the salad bar in the buffet serving up myself a salad, now when I approach a buffet I find the start and follow the line, that would be the correct way? At this moment I am the only person at the salad bar when this other traveler walks up and reaches for the salad dressing as if I am not there, I actually had to back up. I thought to my self, WOW cannot she not see me?

The next day I was riding back on a boat from Belize to return to the Ship, they announced to stay seated until told to depart the boat, but the 7 ft tall gentlemen sitting next to me must have not heard that announcement he actually stepped over my legs to rush over and wait to get off the boat. Again, I thought WOW was he late for something? Did he really need to step over me?

Again as we were riding our boat over to the Bahamas we were not even on shore yet and half of the passengers got up from their seats and rushed to the front of the boat, thinking that is where you exit. Funny thing is all the kind patient travelers that were still sitting got off first, off the back of the boat.

I was traveling with my husband and 2 other couples and this was an on going conversation for the 6 of us. We just could not believe how people were so rude. In the end the 6 of us became much kinder to the people around us. It is a great feeling being kind and I love seeing the persons response when you are kind to them!

Please remember this when traveling next time, being rude just does not get you anywhere remember you are on vacation just take your time and you will have a wonderful relaxing vacation and that is what it is all about!

I just helped Buddy and Jenna find a simple, but fun vacation to the Occidental Grand Xcaret in Playa Del Carmen. When Buddy called me all he said was "Nichole get me outta here, I need to go somewhere warm." I asked him a few questions, but seeing he is a repeat client of mine I knew what he like in a vacation. They were set to depart January 10th and return the 17th. On Sunday the 17th my phone ran, they had just gotten of the plane and had already called me. This was Jenna's exact words "Thanks for hookin' us up Nichole it was great and we love it!"
Can I tell you that is why I love what I do, in Jenna's way of putting it hooking up my clients!

Below are some of their pictures of the Occidental Grand Xcaret, this resort is excellent for couples and families. It is a huge resort with so much to see and do.

One of the pool areas, I love the landscape around it.

This is the opening to the beach from the ocean, what a beautiful view.
This is the beach, look how blue it is.

This is a excellent 4 star resort that offers 11 dining options, 9 bars and lounges and 5 swimming pools. Not to forget the entertainment it is pretty spectacular. This resort is also attached to the eco-archeological Xcaret Park, where you can enjoy snorkeling through ancient caves and underwater gardens, swim with dolphins, or observe jaguars, butterflies, and so much more.

One of my Favorite Spots . . . Jamaica

One of my Favorite places to Vacation is Jamaica, you may have heard me say this before, but I cannot say it enough.

Jamaica is full of beautiful beaches, landscapes, wonderful people and memorable excursions. Jamaicans really know how to make you feel welcomed. Once you have visited Jamaica a time or two they always say "Welcome Home".
One time I was walking a bit fast to get something from my room, and was asked

"Whats your hurry ma am' you are on vacation, slow down?"

I often think of the question I was asked. I try to remind myself of that when I am home. We live such a busy, a rushed life, and forget some of our best moments in life or the one we stop to enjoy. I think that is one of my favorite things about my vacations is that the computer, cell phone, work load and even the house work do not come along. I know when I am at home I am always on the go but there is nothing like the moment arriving to a beautiful resort with someone handing you a cold beverage and a smile on their face Welcoming you!

It is not to late to start planning you Warm Winter Vacation and take your break from it all!
